Eva Fischer is an independent curator, cultural manager and lecturer in the field of experimental media, immersive art and art&technology. She studied art history and cultural management in Graz, Utrecht (NL) and Vienna.
She curated and co-produced interdisciplinary exhibitions and performance series with a focus on audiovisual and postdigital art, immersive media and XR in institutions like: MAK Vienna, AIL – Angewandte Innovation Lab, ACFNY New York, MediaArtLab / Manege Moscow, Todays Art Den Haag, Künstlerhaus Vienna, Kunsthalle Project Space, Vienna Design Week, Kunsthaus Graz, Diagonale Festival, Vienna Shorts, OK Linz, Tanzquartier Vienna, METRO Kinokulturhaus, Jazzfestival Saalfelden, MSO Melbourne, EXPO Shanghai, and more)
Since 2021, she has been directing the new Viennese media art festival CIVA – Contemporary Immersive Virtual Art. In 2020 she founded the virtual exhibition platform Area for Virtual Art (sound:frame x Pausanio), together with a team of artists, curators and cultural managers. From 2007 – 2016 she directed the sound:frame – Festival for Audiovisual Art. In 2009 she founded the eponymous agency sound:frame – Immersive Art, which was expanded to a co-production office in 2016. From 2006 – 2016 she was active as a visualist. From 2016 – 2019 she directed the production of Diagonale – Festival of Austrian Film.
Since 2021 she teaches at the „Experimental Game Culture“ Department at dieAngewandte in Vienna, since 2020 „Immersion Strategies“ at the FH Joanneum in Graz. From 2014 to 2020 she taught „Experimental Media“ at the University of Applied Sciences in St. Pölten, from 2011 – 2018 „Audiovisual Media“ at the IKM/ Institute for Cultural Management at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna. In 2016, she taught in the „Audio“ department of the MA „MultiMediaArt“ at the University of Applied Sciences Salzburg.
