Prior to her 29 th birthday Daria Smirnova managed to accomplish Master degrees in Architecture and Art, published a number of articles on art and architecture, executed several small scale architectural projects, created a lot of paintings and graphic compositions, learned several foreign languages, participated in art exhibitions and workshops, meantime being a young practicing architect in Germany.
Artist Daria Smirnova was born August 29, 1989 in Kiev, Ukraine, studied at the Gymnasium of oriental languages, where had classes of english and persian (farsi) languages, as well arts.
In 2006 Daria became a student of the faculty of Architecture at the National Academy of Fine Arts and Architecture in Kiev.
After defending her Master thesis on specialty “Architecture” in 2012, she got qualified as an architect, artist and teacher, moreover awarded a recommendation for a postgraduate PhD studies at the academy. Directly after the graduation to enhance professional architectural knowledge Daria started a Master course from October 2012 at the Anhalt University of Applied Sciences, Dessau – where is located the well-known Bauhaus.
During the studies in Dessau, Daria participated actively at summer architectural workshops in France, Italy and Germany. The featuring themes were experimental projects built from wood on site – France and South Tirol, Italy; sociogenesis – Swiss summer school ‘The school of tomorrow` at Venice Biennale Architecture, Venezia; ‘International Society of Biourbanism’ Rome, Italy. Besides architecture related workshops, Daria actively participated in art projects, as an artist and as assistant – Inprint Exchange ‘Inprint Liverpool’ in Bauhaus; ‘Multi Urbanity’ – Expo pavilion in Bauhaus, Dessau; exhibition ‘Kosmos‘, in frames of “Bauhaus Fest 2014”, Dessau, Germany. During the Master thesis semester at Dessau Institute of Architecture, Daria was an intern at renowed architectural office in Stuttgart. Currently Daria is continue working as an architect at JSWD Architekten in Bonn/Köln, Germany.
Daria’s statement is to highlight that the architectural paintings are important part of being an architect-artist and she is continue to develop her professional carrier in fine arts and architecture.
